How to Generate an SEO Report PDF
Open your report and click Download PDF. What you get is the page you built, printed to A4 portrait with no browser headers, no URL stamped in the margin, and your company name and logo where they were on screen.
The file costs nothing. The SEO Report Builder that produces it is free with every account, including the free one, so the PDF is a print of something you already have rather than a paid export.
What Ends Up in the File
Everything on the report page prints, in the order and position you put it. A summary block with the reporting period and your written commentary, the numbers you chose, the charts, the tables, and any text you wrote yourself.
Multi-page reports print as multiple pages. The builder's portrait and landscape toggle is the same choice the printed file makes, so what you arrange on screen is what comes out of the printer.
Nothing about the file says SEOLinkMap unless you want it to. Your company name and logo come from your settings and sit at the top of every page.
Live Link or Flat File
You have both, and they answer different questions. The share link is a page that reads current numbers every time somebody opens it. The PDF is a fixed copy of one moment.
Send the link when the client will look more than once, or when the value is in them checking mid-month without emailing you. Send the file when it has to be attached, archived, printed, or handed to somebody who will never click anything.
The honest split: the link is better for the client, the file is better for the record. Most agencies end up sending the link every month and the PDF every quarter, when somebody wants a document rather than a dashboard.
Printing a Monthly Report
Set the date range to Last month before you print, and set Compare to previous period so every number carries its change. Both live in the two dropdowns at the top of the builder, and both apply to the report as a whole.
Then write the commentary. That paragraph is the only part of the report a tool cannot produce for you, and it is the part the client actually reads: what happened, why it happened, and what you are doing about it next month.
Print last, once the numbers and the words agree with each other.
Quarterly and Annual Reports
The same report handles longer periods without rebuilding anything. Date range covers This quarter, Last quarter, This year and Last year, plus a custom range for a period that does not line up with a calendar.
Year over year is the comparison worth using here. A quarter against the previous quarter mostly measures the season; a quarter against the same quarter last year measures the work.
What a PDF Cannot Do
It cannot update itself. The moment you print it, it starts aging, which is the whole reason the share link exists.
It also cannot be exported by the client. The download control lives on your side of the login, so the client opening a share link sees the report and reads it, and you are the one who makes the file and sends it.
Charts print as they render, so a table showing five rows on screen prints five rows. If the client needs everything, put the widget on its own page and give it room rather than expecting the file to paginate the table for you.
Where the Numbers Come From
Search Console supplies clicks, impressions, position and click-through rate. Analytics supplies pageviews, users, engagement and conversions. The crawl supplies page types, internal linking and indexing status, and some measurements combine two sources.
Which of them you can put in a report depends on what is connected to that project, and what do I do next will tell you which integration is missing rather than leaving you to guess.
Both Google sources report on a delay, so the last day or two of any period can still move after you print. For a monthly report, printing a few days into the new month costs you nothing and avoids reprinting.
Building the Report First
If you have not built one yet, the SEO Report Builder guide covers the widgets, the settings panel and the share link in order.
How to Build an SEO Report is the longer argument about what belongs in a report and what is filler, with two free browser tools for the parts you assemble by hand.
